Dr. Gerardo F. Flintsch, the Director of the Center for Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure (CSTI) at VTTI and an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech, has been elected as a corresponding member to the National Academy of Engineering of Uruguay, which is a member of the International Council of Engineering and Technological Sciences.
“I was honored to have been nominated and subsequently elected as a member of this prestigious institution,” Flintsch said. “It is something unexpected, but I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the engineering profession in my native land.”
The position of corresponding member to the Academy is designated for those members of the country’s national academy who reside outside Uruguay. Flintsch is one of five such corresponding members who are part of the national academy who reside outside of Uruguay.
